The truth about going natural

Going natural is like having a child.

It is exciting and new. And full of unique experiences.

As your natural hair texture comes through, as you start to see your hair change and grow you can’t help but feel a sense of pride…that you have accomplished something great.

You start to watch some videos and read some articles and decide you want to try some new products (other than olive oil and water) so that your hair can “look like this”. But it doesn’t.

That twist out doesn’t quite work, your bun is sloppy and sad. Then…your hair texture changes AGAIN! It becomes dry and stringy, you begin to wonder if you used too much of “the wrong thing”, or you watched the “wrong person”, or read the “wrong article”. So you down all your tools and decide to try something else.

But guess what? Now your hair is knotted and dull. You try to go back to your original formulae but your hair doesn’t quite look nor feel the same.

You love being natural but you want a do-over. To get things right the second time…

Your pick up your scissors…and you start again.

Thought this was going to be an info piece about how to take care of your natural hair? Maybe next time beautiful, but for every article you read and video you watch remember 3 things:

1. Everyone is still learning. What works for them may or may not work for you.

2. Your hair is UNIQUE just like you, so if you really want to see results you’ve got to take the time to learn your hair find what works best for you

3. If it doesn’t initially work out as planned…Starting again is NOT failing, it’s a chance to find a different way of doing something that didn’t quite work the last time, (successful people do it all the time).

Also please note, shaving your hair off is not the only way to start again… but that’s a different topic for a different day.

See you next time!

Have a beautiful day,

Love Team AB.
